About us
The right toy, not the cheapest one
Khilona is a Pakistani toy shop built around one question: is this the toy this child will actually play with? Everything else — the prices, the delivery, the descriptions — follows from taking that question seriously.
Why we started
Buying a toy online in Pakistan used to mean choosing between two bad options. A marketplace listing with four words of description, a stock photo and a seller who vanishes when the thing arrives broken. Or a physical shop where the price depends on how you look and the advice depends on what they need to shift that week.
Neither answers the question a parent is actually asking. A five-year-old who loves building things and a five-year-old who loves running around do not want the same present, and no amount of “Top 10 Toys” listing helps you tell them apart. So we built a shop that answers it: age ranges that mean something, descriptions written by somebody who opened the box, and guides that will tell you when a toy is not worth buying yet.
How we choose what to sell
We stock 606 toys across 27 categories, and that number grows slowly on purpose. Every one of them is bought, unboxed and looked at before it goes on the site. A toy has to survive three questions to make it:
- Would a child come back to it? Plenty of toys are exciting for eleven minutes. Those are the ones that end up at the back of a cupboard, and they are not a good use of anybody’s money.
- Is it built to survive being played with? By the child it is sold to, not by a careful adult in a photograph.
- Is the age range honest? Boxes routinely claim 3+ for something a three-year-old cannot hold. Where we disagree with the box, the product page says so and the box loses.
Where the toys come from, and why the prices work
We buy directly off Shah Alam Market in Lahore — the wholesale toy bazaar most of the country’s toys pass through anyway — rather than through a distributor adding a layer to the price. That is the entire trick. It is not a discount, a flash sale or a launch offer; it is what a toy costs when nobody in the middle needs their cut.
It also means we can be honest about value. A toy that is genuinely cheap because it is simple and well made is a good buy. A toy that is cheap because it will break is not, and we would rather not sell it than explain it later.
What we will always do
- Write our own descriptions. Not one product page here is supplier copy. If a page tells you what is in the box, somebody counted it.
- Let you pay at the door. Cash on Delivery everywhere we deliver, to all 35 cities and the towns around them, with no advance and no card details.
- Answer as a person. On WhatsApp, during opening hours, with somebody who has seen the toy you are asking about.
- Take it back if it is wrong. 7 days, and free delivery over Rs. 2,000 on the way out.
- Never invent a review or a stock count. Every review on the site came from somebody who bought the toy. If it says four left, there are four.
Who we are
Khilona Toys (Pvt) Ltd is a small team in Lahore — people who buy the stock, write the pages, pack the boxes and reply to the messages. The same people, which is why the advice is consistent and why nothing on this site was written by somebody who had never seen the product.
The name is the Urdu word for toy, which felt like the right place to start for a shop built for Pakistani families.
