How to choose cricket sets
Bat size is the whole decision, and it is set by the child height rather than by age: roughly size 3 at 4 feet, size 4 at 4 feet 3, size 5 at 4 feet 6, size 6 at 4 feet 9 and a Harrow above 5 feet. A bat one size too big is not something a child grows into — it is swung from the shoulders instead of the wrists, and the technique that produces takes years to correct. Weight matters as much as length: pick the lightest bat in the right size that the child can hold out horizontally for a slow count of ten. Every bat here is made for tape ball and soft ball, which is what is actually played in a gali or a park in Pakistan, and none of them should face a season hard ball. Look for plastic stumps with a weighted base, because a spring base on concrete falls over in a breeze and ends the game.

Questions
Cricket Sets questions parents ask
Which bat size should I buy for my child?
Go by height, not age. Around 4 feet takes a size 3, 4 feet 3 a size 4, 4 feet 6 a size 5, 4 feet 9 a size 6, and above 5 feet a Harrow. Every listing states the size and the length in inches.
Can these bats be used with a hard ball?
No. Our junior bats are made for tape ball and soft ball cricket. A season hard ball will crack the blade, and the listings say so.
Do the stumps stand up on concrete?
The sets we stock use weighted-base stumps that stand on a hard surface without a stand. Spring-base stumps meant for grass are not something we list.
