How to choose rc cars
A remote control car is judged on where it can actually be driven. A low-slung drift model is superb on a tiled floor and useless on a katcha street, so match the chassis to the ground the child has. Wheel diameter is the single best proxy: anything under 50mm is an indoor car whatever the box says. Scale is the other number worth reading. A 1:10 car is roughly 40cm long and needs a courtyard; a 1:24 is pocket-sized and lives happily in a lounge. Two-wheel drive is cheaper, lighter on batteries and easier for a beginner to control; four-wheel drive earns its price only outdoors on loose surfaces. Ask us for the run time before you buy — it is the number that decides whether the car survives its first week.

Questions
RC Cars questions parents ask
What is the difference between 1:10 and 1:24 scale?
Scale is how much smaller the model is than the real car. A 1:10 model is around 40cm long and suited to a courtyard or driveway; a 1:24 is around 18cm and fine indoors. Every listing states the actual length in centimetres.
Can these be driven on a rough street?
Rally and off-road models with raised chassis and rubber tyres handle broken tarmac and gravel. Drift and road models sit too low and will ground out on anything but a smooth surface.
Do they come with a charger?
Every rechargeable car ships with its battery pack and a charger. Controllers usually need two AA cells, which are listed separately in the box contents so there is no surprise on delivery.
